白山市位于吉林省东南部的长白山腹心地带,与朝鲜民主主义人民共和国一衣带水,隔江相望。面积17485平方公里,辖6个县(市)区,有汉、满、朝、回等37个民族,人口133万,境内森林覆盖率达83％。白山市是国家级可持续发展实验区,也是全国首家全幅员森林旅游区,素有“立体资源宝库”、“生物基因宝库”、“长白山文化宝库”等美誉。1980年长白山经联合国教科文组织批准列为联合国“人与生物圈”保护网和世界自然保留地。2003年长白山被评为中华十大名山。
Located in the heart of Changbai Mountain in the southeastern part of Jilin Province, Baishan City faces the water belt of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea across the Yangtze River. An area of 17485 square kilometers, administer 6 counties (cities) district, Han, Manchuria, North Korea and other 37 ethnic groups, population 1.33 million, the territory of forest coverage rate of 83%. Baishan City is a national sustainable development experimental zone and also the first full-scale forest tourist area in the country. It is known as a treasure trove of three-dimensional resources, a treasure house of biological genes and a treasure house of Changbai Mountain culture. In 1980, Changbai Mountain was approved by UNESCO as the UN Man and Biosphere Reserve and the world natural reserve. 2003 Changbai Mountain was named China’s top ten mountains.
