Ⅳ型胶原酶作为基质金属蛋白酶家族的成员之一 ,可降解肾小球基底膜和系膜基质的主要结构成分———Ⅳ型胶原。糖尿病中糖、脂代谢紊乱、血流动力学异常及转化生长因子 β等细胞因子的水平升高 ,均可使肾小球局部Ⅳ型胶原酶的含量及活性下降 ,使细胞外基质降解减少 ,导致肾小球基底膜增厚和系膜基质堆积 ,在糖尿病肾病的发生、发展中起重要作用
