古元(1919—1996)广东珠海人。杰出的美术家、美术教育家。曾任中国美术家协会副主席,中国版画家协会名誉主席。1938年赴延安,在陕北鲁迅艺术学院学习,创作了大量优秀版画作品。1942年在重庆举办的全国木刻展览会上,徐悲鸿先生称赞古元是“中国艺术界中一卓绝之天才”。1952年古元调入人民美术出版社,任创作室主任。1959年到中央美术学院任教授。1979年任
Ancient yuan (1919-1996) Zhuhai, Guangdong. Outstanding artist, art educator. Former Vice Chairman of the Chinese Artists Association, honorary chairman of the Chinese Printmaker Association. He went to Yan’an in 1938 and studied in Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts in Northern Shaanxi, creating a large number of excellent prints.
