潘鼎宣,字蓉庭,清光绪六年(1880年)腊月初十,生于湖南芷江。父亲潘帮图,老家在江西丰城县塘乡村,由于家境贫寒,但因学得一手裁缝手艺,于是来到湖南芷江靠缝纫为生,后娶妻生子,育三男三女,长子就是潘鼎宣。不幸的是,潘鼎宣出生那天,芷江龙辜桥大火,潘家顷刻化为灰烬,潘帮图只好携全家八口人来到贵州镇远定居,仍以缝衣为生。九年后,潘帮图因脑溢血不幸身亡。小小年纪的潘鼎宣经同乡帮忙介绍,离开家人,来到湖南洪江谋生。
Pan Dingxuan, word Rong court, Emperor Guangxu six years (1880) twelfth lunar month ten, was born in Hunan Zhijiang.
