1996年1月1日,是我国最早建立的艺术设计高等学校──中央工艺美术学院建院40周年校庆日,为此,学院举行了隆重的庆祝活动。 11月1日上午10时15分,校庆大会在庄严的国歌声中开幕,会议由杨永善副院长主持,常沙娜院长发表了重要讲话。常院长对与会的各位来宾表示热烈欢迎。 她在讲话中,简要回顾了学院四十年来的发展历程,总结为初建的十年(1956—1965),“文革”动乱的十年(1966—1975),恢复整顿的十年(1976—1985)和改革开放的十年(1986—1995)四个阶段。常院长说,学院在四十年来,按照党和国家的办学方针,始终将学院的发展与人民的需要、社会主义建设的需要紧密结合在一起,总结和继承祖国民族、民间的优秀文化传统,使教学与实践紧密配合,注重吸取西方有益的教学经
