Sanctions Iran affected the development of Chinese oil companies in the area. In order to reduce the risk, Chinese oil companies should adopt more flexible trade settlement methods when they open up more oil sources and import Iraqi oil by way of maritime insurance provided by Iraq, so as to promote the construction of oil projects in Iraq. On July 31, U.S. President Barack Obama announced sanctions against China Kunlun Bank, which has financial transactions with Iran, and cut off the connection between Kunlun Bank and the U.S. financial system.
