The debate about the world economy in economic literature reflects the need for scientific reflection of today’s reality - the interaction and opposition of the two world social systems. The process of argument shows that this is not a simple matter. There is no consensus on many issues. At the same time, there are some new aspects that need to be discussed on this issue. The focus of the debate is on the content of the concept of “world economy” and its status in the category system of political economy.
