刘铭传是晚清名臣,淮军悍将,在镇压太平军和捻军的过程中由千总、都司、参将、副将升至总兵;1865年被提拔为直隶提督。在中法战争中,已解甲归田的刘铭传又被启用,奉命督办台湾军务,率军作战,抵抗法国侵略。1885年10月台湾设省,抗法护台的有功之臣刘铭传自然成为台湾第一任巡抚。然而,如此劳苦功高的重臣,最终却因力主企业应当商办、“官不过问”而被清廷责问丢官。
Liu Ming Chuan was a late Ming official, the Huainan military Titans, in the process of suppression of the Taipings and Nian army by the total, Division, Participation, vice rank rose to Zongbing; in 1865 was promoted to Chihli. During the Sino-French War, Liu Mingchuan, who had already been demobilized, was reopened and ordered to supervise Taiwan’s military affairs and led his troops in fighting against the French aggression. In October 1885, Liu Mingchuan, the founding minister of Taiwan’s establishment of a province that resisted anti-French protests, naturally became the first governor of Taiwan. However, such hard-working top ministers eventually went to the Qing court to hold the government in charge of losing their jobs due to the fact that the main enterprises should run the business without asking the officials.
