2014年4月3日上海通用汽车中国前瞻技术科研中心宣布,镁合金专用立式挤压铸造机现已安装调试完毕,并且成功完成了首批工艺验证零部件的试制工作,这标志着通用汽车在汽车轻量化研究方面取得了新的突破。镁合金立式挤压铸造机是由通用汽车全球研发中心旗下的轻质材料研究团队和通用汽车中国科学研究院轻量化技术研究团队联合设计,并且和中国本地设备供应商共同开发研制而成。作为先进的镁合金专用立式挤压铸造系统,该设备不仅通过立式挤压提高了铸件致密度,更通过对镁合金原料的保护气氛熔化与气密传输消除了氧化夹杂等缺陷,从而大幅提高了铸造镁合金汽车零部件的性能与品质。
