造纸专家唐孟平同志因患肺癌医治无效于1999年6月28日下午17时30分在武汉逝世,享年78岁。 唐孟平同志是湖北省造纸老专家之一,生于1922年12月25日,四川省夹江县人,1945年毕业于中国第一所造纸专业学校——国立中央技艺专科学校制浆造纸工程专业。毕业后曾留校任助教。解放后,1950年在东北工业部轻工业局任专业工程师,1952年调北京国家轻工业部造纸工业管理局工作,1953年调轻工部第一批新建部属企业安徽造纸厂全面负责基建、生产与技术管理工作,经过试车、验收生产出合格的卷烟纸后,1956年调到汉阳造纸厂,先后任主任工程师,副总工程师、总工程师:副厂长、教授级高工等职。1986年6月加入中国共产党,同年10月经组织批准退休。随后被轻工部武汉设计院聘为顾问,一直到去世前为止。
