The mortality of patients with epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) has long been the first of gynecological malignancies, which is closely related to a series of biological behaviors such as high invasion and metastasis, drug resistance and relapse rate. The study found that the above characteristics of EOC and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) are closely related. EMT that epithelial cells lose the polarity of the original epithelial cells, morphology, arrangement, regain the stromal cell cytoskeleton, morphology, and cell movement phenotype changes. In-depth study and discussion on the mechanism of inducing EMT in EOC may help to find a new way of EOC treatment. Blocking or interfering with the occurrence of EMT may become a new target of EOC treatment. The article reviews the mechanism of epithelial-mesenchymal transition in EOC.
