猴石顶,位于河北省阜平县城东北20公里处的低丘区,山不算很高仅500m,但很突出,其形态非常奇特,从高处望去,活象一只脸向西,背朝东倦曲、平卧的猴子。相传宋代原生活在平原区的人到山中守猎,而爬上猴石顶的峰顶,向下看见此山活象一只石猴,故而得名流传致今。更为有趣的是,山脉的最高处正是石猴的头部,在头部的岩石上又布满了成千上万只小石猴,这些小石猴大多成 15—20 cm大小,有的成群聚集;有的成排成行,十分壮观,并见一岩壁上有一只猴站在猴群外,好似呼在检阅它的猴子猴孙,这些妙趣横生的奇景,在当地已是家喻户晓,农谣曰
