容祖椿(1872-1943),广东东莞莞城旨亭街人,是“隔山画派”创始人居廉的高徒,也是岭南画派创始人高剑父、陈树人朝夕相处的同窗好友;是古文字学家容庚学画的启蒙老师和艺术知音,也是南方第一所官立美术学校—“广州市立美术学校”国画教师;是20世纪20年代广东诗书画界社团“清游会”的首倡者之一与主要成员,也是“广东国画研究会”重要成员。他花鸟、山水、人物皆善,且以花鸟成就最突出;他桃李满天下,却因长期默默无闻,书札画迹深藏于历史烟云之中。
