1982年中国农业工程研究设计院和中国农科院蔬菜所,在8米跨的薄壁镀锌钢管装配式塑料大棚内,进行了用地膜覆盖提高蕃茄品质的尝试。他们用0.015毫米的聚乙烯塑料薄膜为地面覆盖材料,用丽春(77—462)品种的蕃茄进行10~15厘米的小高畦栽培。1月10日播种、2月5日分苗、3月17日定植、密度为4000株/亩。每株留果3~4穗。经对不同穗位的蕃茄的测定,发现地膜覆盖这项措施可以提高蕃茄的品质。可使影响蕃茄品质的主要指标——可溶性固形物、含糖量、维生素C、有机酸等的含量提高。(见下表)
