侨,指侨民;华侨是中国侨民,即住在外国而保留中国国籍的居民。在北京这样的首善之区,在如此气派的出入境公司门前,竟挂着“华侨”误为“华乔”的错字招牌,玩笑未免开大了吧。
Overseas Chinese refer to overseas Chinese. Overseas Chinese are Chinese nationals who live in foreign countries and retain Chinese nationality. In such a prime area of Beijing, in front of such a splendid exit-entry company, it is tempting to hang out with the wrong sign of “overseas Chinese” mistakenly known as “Hua Qiao.”
