For the first time, hybrid vehicles appeared on US highways and country roads 10 years ago. Their cumulative sales now account for 2.5% of all new car sales in the United States, so successful that when you’re walking around places like Los Angeles, the San Francisco Bay Area and Washington DC, it seems like there’s always the feeling that someone else is driving The Toyota Prius. Indeed, the fact is that hybrid models like the Toyota Prius are easy to sell in trendy American-rich neighborhoods.
