In January 2014, the major project of the Ministry of Land and Resources, “Assessment of the Potential of Coal Resources in China” approved by the Ministry of Land and Resources, showed that the total amount of coal resources in China was 5.9 trillion tons, with 2,880 areas of forecasting area of nearly 480,000 km2 and a predicted resource of 38,800 Billion t. The results of the “National Coal Resources Potential Evaluation” project undertaken by the China General Administration of Coal Geology and the first exploration unit of China’s General Administration of Coal Geology have been reviewed by the China Geological Survey.
