As a state church, the 18th century Church of England, though not blameless in the performance of its religious duties, is generally commanding. In the relatively stable period of the late seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries, the mainstream status of the National Church was relatively stable. However, the ideological shocks of deists who advocated religious religions continued to exert a great pressure and challenge on the National Church. In the late 18th century, with the deepening and speeding-up of social changes, both the institutional and structural weaknesses of the State Church were exposed. At the same time, the rise and spread of the Gospel movement, represented by the Patriarchs, And the fact that Protestantism has not reenergized and grown from the sectarian and Catholic factions further shaken the monopoly position of the National Church and exacerbated the crisis of the National Church. However, the crisis of mainstream churches does not mean the decline of religion. Rather, the ups and downs of mainstream churches and other churches or sects indicate the changing trend of pluralistic competition in religion in England.
