火炬树(Rhus typinal)属漆树科漆树属,落叶灌木或小乔木。原产北美,分布在北美东部,北起加拿大的奎北克,安大略省,南到美国的印地安纳、艾阿华。具有抗寒、耐旱、抗盐碱、根蘖力强、繁殖容易、郁闲早、水平根系发达等特点。是比较好的水土保持树种。因其秋叶鲜红,果穗红似火炬,又可作为四旁绿化的观赏树种。六十年代初期北京植物园引种栽培成功。我站于1979年开始引种育苗和造林试验。三年来火炬树生长正常,并有少数开花结果。
