Under the care of the municipal party committee, the city’s western medicine practitioners’ seminar on learning Chinese medicine ended in mid-December 1972. Eighty-three district and three county health bureaus (groups) were responsible for comrades, some medical units in the local bureaus, factories and mines, and colleges and universities’ health departments and other representatives. The comrades at the meeting carefully studied Chairman Mao’s instructions and related documents on the integration of Chinese and Western medicine, launched a revolutionary critique, and exchanged experiences in using various forms of organizing Western medicine to learn Chinese medicine. According to incomplete statistics, 1,310 Chinese and Western trainers have been trained last year.
