For hundreds of years, lens technology has continuously infused vitality and rich connotation into art. Gerhard Richter, Germany’s most famous artist, reviews the exhibition to show us the response to photography in his creative career. As early as around 1670, Johannes Vermeer, a famous painter living in Delft, Holland, created a painting depicting young women workers making lace. In this piece, women workers concentrate on needlework in their hands. The foreground of the painting is a sewing cushion consisting of a box covered with cushioned fabric. A bundle of red and white threads is threaded out of the box and onto another deck.
