Built in 1927, Toronto Dock Terminal Warehouse has been a prominent building on the banks of Lake Ontario. Seen from the lake, it forms the striking image of the city with the later Royal York Hotel. However, with the development of the city, it is increasingly incongruous compared to the newly-built high-rise buildings with its background. In order to rejuvenate this valuable warehouse building, it was decided to transform it into a multi-purpose building that is in line with the modern cityscape. The architect modified the facade of the original building. By changing the proportion of the walls between windows, setting up six-storey vertical glass long windows, adding three-story glass corner corridors, and other means to give the original appearance of modern public buildings of reinforced concrete warehouse buildings. At the same time, the architects also perform modernization functions by adding “decrease” and “reduction” to the original buildings.
