Due to the rapid development of industry, environmental pollution has spread all over the world and is very harmful. Japan’s experiences and lessons are especially great. For example, water disease (chronic mercury poisoning) and painful disease (chronic cadmium poisoning) have been found in Japan in the past. In order to study the effect of heavy metals on the health of offspring and to evaluate the combined toxic effects of various metals on offspring, the authors measured normal maternal venous and infantile cord blood delivered during hospitalization in Nagoya, Japan, from 1974 to 1978, Umbilical cord heavy metal content. These include total mercury, methylmercury, lead, cadmium, manganese, copper and zinc. A total of 231 normal mothers and their infants were collected
