川剧前辈艺术家在绿台上为我们刻画了以丑角应工的艺术形象:王侯将相、纨绔子弟。市井小民等皆栩栩如生,真正是戏上有,世上有,给人留下深刻的印象。这些人物分别归为“泡带丑”、“官衣丑”、“褶子丑”、“襟襟丑”、“丑旦”等几类,而为其它戏曲剧种所少见。在旧社会,艺人为了生存,在唱、做、念、打方面,不能不练就几手真功夫,练好几出“看家戏”,使观众从一个戏或几个戏中看到一个艺术家的风格,得到认可。
