江西钢厂、新余钢铁厂是分别于1966年、1958年建成的江西省地方骨干企业,经过几十年的发展,已具有了相当规模的生产能力。到1990年末,两厂拥用职工4.6万余人;固定资产原值达94012万元;年产钢78万吨;年产铁46万吨;年产锰铁17万吨,占全国锰铁产量的43％,在1990年国家经济委员会颁布的全国500家大型企业中,分别排列在188位和128位。为了更好地发挥企业的整体优势,使其在生产上、工艺上、技术上达到最优组合,1991年初,经省政府研究决定,将江西钢厂、
Jiangxi Steel Works and Xinyu Iron and Steel Works are local key enterprises in Jiangxi Province established in 1966 and 1958 respectively. After decades of development, they have a considerable scale of production capacity. By the end of 1990, the two factories owned more than 46,000 employees; the original value of fixed assets reached 9.4012 billion yuan; the annual output of steel was 780,000 tons; the annual output of iron was 460,000 tons; and the annual output of ferro-manganese was 170,000 tons, accounting for ferromanganese output nationwide. The 43% of the 500 large-scale enterprises issued by the National Economic Council in 1990 were ranked at 188 and 128 respectively.
