西藏赏石文化有着悠久的历史和传统。藏族群众对观赏石有特殊的情感与喜爱,在西藏各地山野、草原、江河、湖岸都能见到堆积如山的石刻玛尼堆、玛尼墙。藏族群众以石寄托精神,以石托付心愿,石文化成为具有深刻思想和文化内涵的精神信仰。近年来,西藏林芝、昌都地区陆续发现了特色观赏石,主要有藏瓷、藏玉、象牙玉、菊螺石、木纹石等等。
Tibet stone culture has a long history and tradition. The Tibetan people have special feelings and love for the ornamental stones. In the mountainous areas, grasslands, rivers and lakeshores of Tibet, there can be seen the pile of Mani heaps and mani walls which are rich in stone. The Tibetan masses rely on stone to entrust their spirits, trust their wishes with stone, and stone culture has become a spiritual belief with profound thoughts and cultural connotations. In recent years, Tibet’s Nyingchi and Chamdo areas have successively discovered unique ornamental stones, mainly including Tibetan porcelain, Tibetan jade, ivory jade, chrysotile, woodgrain, and the like.
