November 20, 1915, Hu Yaobang was born in Cangfang Village, Zhonghe Town, Liuyang County, Hunan Province. In August 1933, 18-year-old Hu Yaobang joined the Chinese Communist Party, in 1935 he served as Secretary for the League branch of the 13th League Club of the Hongsanjun Corps.
