In recent years, the number of diabetics has risen sharply, with a 2 to 3 times greater risk of developing cardiovascular disease than nondiabetics, with endothelial dysfunction being considered as a key factor in the development of atherothrombotic (AS) thrombotic complications in diabetic patients one. Endothelial micro-particles are small vesicles produced by endothelial cell activation or injury, which can promote the adhesion, enlarge the inflammatory reaction and induce neovascularization. Recent studies have found that the level of endothelial microparticles in diabetic patients increased, especially in diabetic patients with renal vascular disease or acute coronary syndrome. In addition, phenotypic studies of endothelial micro-particles suggest that the mechanism of endothelial damage in diabetic patients may be related to apoptosis. The discovery of endothelial micro-particles has opened up a new research platform for studying the pathogenesis of diabetes and is expected to become a new hot spot in the study of diabetes.
