阅读指导旨在引领大学生摆脱阅读的盲目性、随意性、消遣性困扰和局限,明确阅读目标,以扩大阅读的学科范围为旨趣,倡导理性阅读。阅读指导一改传统书目推荐的方式,以《中图法》中的哲学、社会学、政治学、文学和历史学学科为切入点,介绍五类学科涵盖的知识内容及解决的现实问题,激发大学生的阅读热情,并提出阅读应达到的理想境界。
