秃杉,国家一级保护植物,珍稀濒危树种,原产我省高黎贡山南北两侧,故又名贡山杉。该树种多散生于针阔叶混交林中,偶有小片纯林。湖北、贵州亦有少量分布。秃杉为常绿大乔木,树龄可达二三百年,树高70米以上,胸径2米以上,雌雄异株,材质纹理通直、轻软,花纹美观,耐腐,心材紫红色,具香味,故又叫香杉,为家俱、室内装饰和建筑优良用材。秃杉既是珍稀树种,又是速生树种,住人工管理下,其生长量超过杉木。目前,秃杉已被列为我省速生丰产树种进行推广种植。种植地区正从滇西向滇东、滇南推展,其中部分已开始采伐利用。

The planting areas are being promoted from western Yunnan to eastern Yunnan and southern Yunnan, some of which have already started to be harvested and utilized.
