Chestnut trees are planted on terraced mountain slopes or gentle hillsides. Generally, water conditions are difficult and there is no watering habit. Coupled with the poor soil and water conservation in mountainous areas, the growth and development of chestnut trees are very unfavorable. The mountainous people always have the habit of planing tree shrews (usually referring to the area within the canopy of chestnut trees), and regard it as one of the important agricultural technical measures for drought resistance and soil moisture storage in the chestnut fields in the mountains. Every year in the spring, summer and autumn shaver once spring shaving should shallow, autumn shaving should be deep. One method is planing, eradication of growth under the canopy root tiller and weeds, tree trunks size according to the size of the tree set, away from the main root of large roots and more shallow shaver, outward gradually deepening depth of 15- 20 cm. In order not to damage the root system, in case of thick roots, do not shaver, to prevent the wound can not heal in time and the phenomenon of decay; another method is in the steep slopes of trees, the upper half from the slope down Planing, the lower part of the slope slightly up from the next base high. Placed under the canopy on the terrace. No matter what kind of method are to break the clods rake flat. The method, period and depth of planing tree trunks should be adapted to local conditions due to different natural environments and climatic conditions. Generally grasp the spring planing 宜, should not be late as soon as possible; summer planing 垵 after the rain; autumn Planing 垵 in the summer heat, between the white dew.
