英吉沙县是我国巴旦木的主要资源地之一。近几年来,这个县林业局在帮助指导社队营造农田防护林时,把巴旦木农田林网化作为重要内容,促进了巴旦木的发展,栽植面积大幅度增长截至一九七九年已造巴旦木林带十八条、植树八千株。 巴旦木也叫扁桃、巴旦杏,是当地人们喜爱的干果,也是价值较高的出口物资。巴旦木仁可榨油,出油率可达百分之五十八以上,可食用或供食品加工。是一种高级滋补品,还可以直接入药,据明代李时珍的《本草纲目》记载:巴旦杏,味甘、平温无毒;主治止咳下气、消心腹逆闷。巴旦木在国际市场上是畅销品,以它出口可以换回大量外汇。
