Objective To investigate the depression and its influencing factors in coal miners with chronic pain. Methods A total of 407 cases of chronic pain coal miners were investigated using the General Information Questionnaire, Depression Rating Scale, Concise Pain Scale, and Chronic Pain Self-Efficacy Scale. Results The depression score of chronic pain patients in coal miners was (46.59 ± 10.51) points, significantly higher than that of the national norm (P <0.01). The incidence of depression was 28.3%. Pain self-efficacy, the number of pain sites, types of work, pain levels that were or are being experiencing, and nutritional status were predictors of depression in chronic pain patients (p <0.05), accounting for 36.8% of variability. Conclusion Managers should intervene in the factors that affect depression, prompt psychological counseling, and promote the physical and mental health of coal miners.
