杨石先是我国久负盛名的教育家和化学家。他历任第一至第五届全国人大代表,第五、第六届全国政协常委,中国科学院学部委员、化学部主任、名誉主任,国家科委化学组组长、名誉组长,中国化学会理事长、名誉理事长,民进天津市主委,民进中央顾问,天津市科协主席,全国科协副主席,南开大学校长、名誉校长,南开大学元素所所长、名誉所长等职。他在我国教育和科技战线奋斗了六十余年,在培育人才和科学研究上作出了卓越贡献,为我国教育界的一代名师。 杨石先一八九六年一月八日生于杭州,祖籍安徽怀宁。他五岁进家塾。一九○七年

He has been fighting for more than 60 years in the education and science and technology front in China and made outstanding contributions in nurturing talents and scientific research. He is a famous teacher in the education field in our country. Yang Shi first born on January 8, 1866 in Hangzhou, Anhui Huaining ancestral home. He was five years old at his private school.
