近年来,上海地区螨类发生日趋严重,威协作物生长。螨类喜高温干旱,每年6～8月,繁殖迅速,危害尤为严重,造成作物落叶,影响产量,轻的损失10～15%,重则达30～50%,甚至毫无收获。螨类危害面广,受螨类危害的蔬菜有茄子、豆类(豇豆、毛豆、扁豆)、辣椒、冬瓜等,其中茄子和冬瓜受害最重。目前国内杀螨剂较缺,现用的三氯杀螨醇是有机氯制剂。含5～8%的DDT.在蔬菜果树上已禁止
