“Silicosis” and “Benzene Poisoning” ... The “Baigou” incident in Hebei in 2002 and the “Pneumoconiosis” in Guizhou migrant workers in 2003 in Xianyou, Fujian Province started widespread concern about occupational diseases. Similarly, the current urgent need to address the occupational diseases were included in the “Occupational Disease Prevention Law” matching the “classification of occupational disease hazards,” which became the legal occupational disease in China, the rights and interests of the workers are subject to legal protection. Experts point out that the situation of occupational disease prevention and control facing Chinese laborers is quite serious. At present, not only statutory occupational diseases have not been effectively controlled, some new occupational diseases and new variants of occupational diseases are quietly attacking and threaten the health of workers as production and living conditions change.
