照中國明清兩代的習俗,男子十六歲方始成丁,關於丁年的解釋,雖歷代規定微有不同,但是呱呱墮地以後的十六年,無疑是人生的第一階段。中國物理學會是民國二十一年成立的,到今年恰好整整的十六年,已屆成丁的年齡了。著者曾忝隨物理學諸先進參預學會的成立,十六年來,同人們集散無常,大多數於顛沛流離中與飢餓死亡相搏,或追隨抗戰,或困守危城,在這樣環境中生長的嬰兒,無疑地已喪失保育的機會了。追懷既往,企望來茲,實有無限的感慨。茲值中國物理學會京滬杭區年會在南京開會之期,將學會本身的歷史和現狀為一簡略的介紹,也許不是多餘的事吧。
