“诸伶憨且稚,与子共携持。饮食以为母,教诲以为师。饥寒求援手,惟此贫窭儿。权门才济济,何事效驱驰。”“喧阗长安市,与子共翱翔。莫复闻妇孺,呼吁愁人肠。晨兴教歌舞,亲履粉墨场。知我谓我乐,不知谓我狂。”这两段五言诗,是易俗社的奠基人李桐轩先生,在1914年所作《赠易俗社友》四首中的两首。诗里充分表现了先生热爱戏剧事业,同情贫苦儿童以及爱社如家的崇高精神,今天读之仍然倍感亲切。李桐轩先生是清末关中知名学者与革命志士。他于1860年农历十一月初二日生于蒲城县一个农民家庭,自幼苦读,二十岁得中秀才,后又肄业于三原宏道书院。

The poem fully expresses the lofty spirit of Mr. Love’s career in theater, his sympathy for poor children and his love for family, and he is still much gracious today. Mr. Li Tongxuan is a well-known scholar and revolutionary in the Guanzhong period. He was born in a peasant family in Pucheng County on the second day of the lunar November, 1860. He studied hard at the age of 20 and became a scholar at the age of twenty. He later graduated from Hongyuan Academy of Mihara.
