Japan, West Germany and other countries took various measures in respect of longevity of the blast furnace, including various improvements made to the cooling stave of the blast furnace, such as the use of highly ductile ductile iron as the material, carburizing treatment of water pipes and improvement of the wall structure, Life expectancy has reached 10 years. In recent years, China has also developed a highly ductile ductile iron for blast furnace cooling stave. Other improvements are under way and the life expectancy of the blast furnace is expected to reach 10 years. In this paper, to further improve the life of the blast furnace from four aspects: economic benefits, stave material, stave structure and stable production furnace and other aspects are discussed. First, the economic benefits of extending the life of the blast furnace Japan blast furnace operating rate of about 75%, about 25% of the blast furnace as a backup, so in general overhaul does not affect the production; the other hand, although the Japanese blast furnace life of 10 years has been very Common, but still attached great importance to improving blast furnace life
