(An abstract) The deluvial deposits of the quaternary period, which have been formed in a hot and rainy climate, are red in color and free from lime. Various soils developed on these deposits have been found at different localities. In the south of Tsingling the non-calcareous brown earth is the main soil group which occupies a very large area. In the north of Tsingling the dry climate and the over-deposited loses are the causes of a strong calcification of the soil; thus a calcareous chestnut soil resulted.
