According to a recent cost of living survey conducted by Mercer Human Resource Consulting, Tokyo is still the city with the highest cost of living in the world, with London ranking fifth in the rankings and second in the rankings. Moscow is back in third place this year. Asunción, the capital of Paraguay, remains the city with the lowest cost of living in the survey. The survey, which covers 144 cities and is based on the cost of living of foreign nationals, collects over 200 items each at a relative cost, including housing, food, clothing, household goods and transportation and entertainment. These data are used to help multinationals determine the reimbursement benefits paid to their expatriate staff. New York as the benchmark city, scoring 100 points.
