作者在前一个实验工作的基础上进一步扩大样本,对670名4岁以下儿童进行了为期二年的补充大剂量VA的实验观察,用双盲法对实验组儿童每6个月补充20×104IUVA,由乡村医生每周访问儿童家长,记录儿童患病情况。结果表明对亚临床VA缺乏地区儿童补充大剂量VA能降低腹泻发生率,且其效果在疾病高发月份更明显,结果还表明血清VA低的儿童补充VA比血清VA水平较高的儿童效果明显;但对呼吸道感染性疾病虽然在疾病高发月份实验组发病比对照组低,但总的差异不明显。作者还对疾病资料收集方法进行了讨论。
