钱普林炼制石化公司科珀斯克里斯提炼油厂采用焦炭塔底盖自动装卸机构提高了除焦效率和安全性。这种底盖装卸机构,可遥控自动开闭铰链式塔底盖。特别是生产球焦,塔内除焦水不能全部排除时,这种机构更显得重要。塔底盖的装卸包括大量的手工劳动,拆卸螺栓,把笨重的底盖移开塔口。一般塔底盖直径有7英尺(2.134米)那么大,装拆十分困难。在底盖降落和移动时,工人在敞开的塔口下面工作,还要冒着焦炭塌落的危险。
