钻进过程中泥浆性能依温度、压力、固相成分会呈现复杂的变化。根据井内情况要调整比重、粘度、造壁性等性能,其中调整粘度最为复杂。利用高温高压粘度计来评价温度、压力的影响,已发表了许多论文,但均难以再现井内的实际条件。最好能在钻进现场评价这些影响。钻进过程中泥浆连续地从地表——井底——地表进行循环,温度和压力的影响一般较难测定。但在提下钻时,泥浆在井内长时间处于高温、高压环境下,这些影响却是测定的。基于这种想法,连续测定了提下钻前后从井内返出的泥浆性能以评价:
