In July 2010, during the Arctic scientific expedition organized by Beijing Youth Science and Technology Club, surface seawater samples, ice samples and land runoff were collected from the offshore waters of Svalbard, Greenland and Iceland. The analysis of 9 indexes of the collected samples showed that F- and NO3- were not detected in the seawater samples. The order of other ions was Cl-, Na +, SO42-, Mg2 +, K +, Ca2 + The order of the content is basically the same; the ratio of each ion content to the chlorinity is consistent with the value given by the constant ratio law, which proves that the Arctic seawater is mainly supplied directly by the land precipitation. The reason why the ion content of nearshore seawater is much lower than that of offshore waters is due to the melting of glaciers and the supply of surface seawater by means of surface runoff. NO3- was observed in the surface runoff of Svalbard, but NO3- was not detected in the samples of seawater sampled, indicating that NO3- in surface runoff was sufficiently diluted by seawater convection.
