肯尼迪上台不久,中国大陆出现了严重的经济灾难,国民党急欲反功大陆,不断向美方施加压力,请求援助。肯尼迪政府内部就此问题进行了激烈的讨论,认为蒋的计划和梦想不可能实现。最终并没有给予蒋实质上的支持。
Not long after Kennedy came to power, a serious economic disaster occurred in mainland China. The Kuomintang was anxious to rebel against the mainland and kept exerting pressure on the United States for assistance. The Kennedy administration held heated discussions on this issue and concluded that Chiang’s plan and dream could not be realized. In the end, no substantive support was given to Chiang.
