A 0.7 inch (diagonal) LCD with 103k pixels was developed using an ultrathin thin film transistor (SFT). A monolithic horizontal and vertical drive is formed on a quartz substrate. To reduce power consumption, samples of red, green and blue video signals are taken simultaneously. The horizontal driver circuit introduces a complementary pulse generator and a fixed image canceling circuit so that a uniform display image can be obtained. This display has high contrast and high horizontal resolution.
