For the article “Method of Connecting Handrails and Walls of Balconies” published in “Construction Workers” in the second issue of 1998, I have the following points. 1. According to the requirement of horizontal masonry mortar joints, the thickness of the mortar joints should be controlled within 8-12mm (according to the season requirements, generally 10mm at normal temperature and 8mm in winter). In order to ensure that the steel bars buried in the masonry are not corroded, the steel bars should have at least 2 mm thick mortar layers above and below. Therefore, the embedding of a steel bar with a diameter of 10 mm is somewhat large. In general, it is preferable to use φ6.5 to 8.0 steel bars. The embedded steel bar should be set in the ash seam of the upper and lower 3 tiles at the position of the handrail.
