According to the latest research report published by IHS, the hydraulic fracturing activities worldwide continued to grow in 2014, with the related chemical consumption approaching 8.6 billion U.S. dollars, of which the U.S. and Canada reached 8.0 billion U.S. dollars, accounting for 94% of the total. Driven by this, the global oilfield chemical market increased to 25 billion U.S. dollars in 2014, compared with only 16 billion U.S. dollars in 2010. Stefan Schlag, director of inorganic chemicals and mining products at IHS Chemical, points out that in the past five years there has been an unprecedented increase in the oilfield chemicals market, mainly due to
