几何纹样起源较早,并在装饰纹样中占有极为重要的地位。中国几何纹样是中国历史上最早进入装饰领域的纹样之一,也是在中国装饰史上运用最广泛的纹样。出土的8000年前的彩陶装饰中,人们就开始运用点、线、方形等几何图案装饰彩陶器皿。在现代社会,几何纹样仍在大量的应用在各种标志设计、服装设计、包装设计、染织设计等领域。
